The red-dirt rule

Kualoa Ranch valleys are red-dirt country. After it rains (and it does, even briefly on the windward side), the ground turns to mud. Your shoes will get caked. Your pants legs will acquire permanent stains if you touch wet earth. If you love your clothes, leave them at the hotel. Wear shorts and a t-shirt you do not care about. Cotton is fine; quick-dry fabric is better. The red dirt washes out eventually, but some staining is permanent. That is part of the experience, not a surprise to avoid.

Shoes: the closed-toe rule explained

UTV, zipline, and horseback tours require closed-toe shoes for safety. The UTV has foot pedals; if your feet slip, you need protection.
